In addition to our current Sewerage Environmental Incentive Scheme, we are delighted to offer a new Water Environmental Incentive Scheme. Our Environmental Incentive Scheme has been developed in accordance with the Environmental Incentive Common Framework, which was released by Ofwat in December 2024.
From 1 April 2025, you will be able to apply for our Water Environmental Incentive Scheme while your project is in progress with us. Your application for this will need to be made separately from your main application, and before your project is complete.
To qualify for this incentive scheme, your properties must meet a requirement of 90lpppd or below, as laid out in our charges arrangements document. Our scheme is in line with the Common Incentive Framework which is measured through the installation of fixtures & fittings. The table below gives an example of the fixtures and fittings we will be assessing in order to confirm the property meets 90lpppd or less through the use of the water calculator.*
*please note, you may need to choose fixtures and fittings below the maximum consumption figures published in the table above in order to achieve 90lpppd
For every plot eligible for the discount, we will offer a payment equivalent the incentive value published in our charging arrangements. In line with the Common Incentive Framework Guidance, a component charge is required to be recovered from every property connected to our network, regardless if these qualify for the incentive payment or not. The component charge is intended to fund our EIS scheme. Incentives and component charges are:
Water Enviromental Incentive -£500
Environmental Incentive Charge Water £100
In order to apply for this discount, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Check your eligibility on the Water Calculator
Step 2: Supply us with the details of your fixtures and fittings on this form.
Step 3: Our team will review and assess your eligibility
Step 4: If it is looking like the plot(s) meet the criteria, we will schedule one of our Development Services Technicians to visit your project and complete an audit
Step 5: If the plot(s) passes the audit, this will be passed to our Income Team to schedule you a payment of the incentive amount
If the plot(s) fails the audit, you are able to make a payment of £84 (per plot) for us to come back out and reassess once amendments have been made. This will take you back to step 4.

Sewerage Environmental Incentive Scheme
Our Sewerage Environmental Incentive Scheme relates to only brownfield developments that currently discharge surface water to a combined or foul sewer. This incentive is available per plot, and you can apply for this at the time of your sewerage connection application.
To qualify for this incentive, you must be able to demonstrate (initially through the design of your proposed on-site network), that all surface water will be removed from the public combined or foul sewer. The surface water will need to be disposed of using one of these methods:
For every plot eligible for the discount, we will organise payment of the incentive amount, £202.
In order to apply and qualify for the discount, follow these steps:
Step 1: Please submit a Section 106 sewer connection application, which includes plans detailing how you meet the above criteria
Step 2: Once your sewer connection application has been approved and the connection has taken place, please contact drainage@anglianwater.co.uk within 6 months of completion and request your discount. If our Representative has not already visited site to conduct an inspection then this will be organised
Step 3: If we are satisfied that all surface water has been removed from the public combined, or foul sewer, we will pay the incentive.
If we are not satisfied that the criteria has been met, the application for the incentive scheme will be cancelled and we will be unable to make the incentive payment
