Anglian Water is upgrading the sewerage network in Holt which will see the replacement of 4km of pipes in the area. So far teams have installed 3.6km of pipes and will soon begin work on the B1149.

The completion of this scheme will ensure Holt’s infrastructure is in excellent condition for years to come, while continuing to serve a growing community and protect the environment from pollution incidents.

The East of England is expected to see more than 720,000 residents move to the region by 2043 which means the water network and sewerage systems need to be able to expand with the growing population.

Ageing infrastructure can pose a higher risk of pollutions – causing an increased threat to the local environment, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.

Chloe Bailey, Customer Experience Specialist said: “We’re committed to keeping our region’s water and sewerage infrastructure in excellent condition, ensuring we can protect the environment and serve local communities for years to come.

“That’s why we’re upgrading our systems in Holt to support the growing community and protect the environment for future generations. Customers' water and sewerage services won’t be impacted, however, there may be some noise and disruption while we work.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience while we complete this essential work.”

A road closure will be in place on part of the B1149 Norwich Road in Holt from 12 January to 23 January 2026, weather permitting. Teams will be working during early mornings and late nights (7am-11pm) to get this work done as quickly as possible.
